'99 D2 115k miles. Runs a little rough (slight misfire but nothing alarming, maybe normal for a V8?)and gets 10 mpg city and up to 15 mpg hwy.
I've drove with the P0440 code for maybe 4 months now.
Time for a new purge valve or is there a quicker fix or other poss. solutions? What might the repair costs be? After work is finished can anyone simply reset the code light or must it be done by a LR shop?

 

I haven't done that sort of a repair before. Once you do get it fixed, most Auto Zone or some of the others can reset it for you.

 

Thanks Mike. How about everyone else? No one here on the forums has had a P0440 code before?? Any repair ideas, also advice on potential dangers in driving w/out repairing it?

 

I had that code, but I took my Disco in the dealership for free repairs as it's still under warranty.

I don't have a clue here on what would cause this, but have you tried re-setting the CEL and seeing if it comes back? The first place I would start is the seal on my gas cap and then the vacuum lines... Sorry I couldn't be of more help...
