Thanks Best. Do I need to pull off the intake to get to it? Seems pretty crowded back there.

It's pretty tight especially with SAI but I've been able to reach a few without removing the intake.

Did you finally find the cause? I am struggling with the same problem and smog is due.

Yes I did. My air intake tube had a hole in it where it connects to the throttle body. It suspect it was pulling unmetered air in. Once I fixed the hole my issue went away and I have had no issues since.

Thanks a lot, I will check my intake system for leaks again.

I still don't understand why an intake leak would throw a P0441, which means "incorrect purge flow". According to the manual the test of the EVAP is performed after engine shutdown. I pulled the codes after coming home and nothing, one hour later I pulled the codes again and a pending P0441 showed up. The test is done
by pumping air into the EVAP system and measure the pump currents. If the system is sealing correctly, the current is above a certain threshold (workshop manual 17-2-42, I have a positive pressure leak detection type). Both purge valves are tight, I checked the old and the new one. The only explanation is that the test might open the purge valve, but that isn't mentioned in the manual.
