P0463 after lift
Just fitted my new TF medium duty lift. When backing out I got a P0463 code and the fuel guage dropped to empty.
Code P0463 indicates the voltage signals from the Fuel Level Sensor are irrationally high and indicating the impossible condition of there's more fuel in the tank than the tank can actually hold. - found online... Don’t have access to rave at the immediate moment.
nothing near the fuel tank was unplugged or messed with. Ideas?

You know that this forum isn't a paid service that is required to answer all questions within a deadline... right?
That being said, P0463 is a fuel level sensor over voltage fault. Meaning the computer incharge is receiving more than 4.29v out of the sensor. Either you have a wire shorted to your level sensor and giving you too much voltage, or the sensor is bad.

2. Is this sensor within the fuel pump? Is it possible to replace just the sensor? Also why/how did installing a lift trigger this? Or is it just totally unrelated and bad timing.
A complete new fuel pump for an 04 with SAI is around 45-65.00 online (Ebay for example). I'd lift up the carpet, remove the fuel pump access panel and check the wiring. If it looks ok a replacement pump might be the way to go.
How much fuel is in your D2 anyways? Maybe from all the jacking/lifting the float got stuck?? Just an idea

I'd lift the carpet, inspect wiring harness, and just remove it to inspect it. I've swapped the entire thing out in as little as half an hour. Electrical plugs, 2 quick connect lines, and a giant metal ring which secures it to the fuel tank.
What happens when you clear the code with a scantool? Does the fuel gauge ever act normal? Or does it just instantly fault? I've seen plenty of RRC/D90/D1/D2 fuel pump assemblies with bare wires or nearly bare wires due to higher levels of ethanol in the fuel these days.
