P1412 & P1415 codes
I have read all of the threads that cover these fault codes, but I still need some help. I have the codes and can't pass inspection in Texas until I get them cleared...
Disconnected the battery and of course they cleared. Inspector tells me that I need to drive 60 to 70 miles to clear the code out of the memory; otherwise the inspection equipment will pick it up and fail it.
Drove about 60 miles and the code reset.
Here is what I know...
1. There is a very slight "miss" when the code sets.
2. The Secondary Air Pump comes on at cold start, but will also come on when the engine is warmed. Stopping at a light the SAP will come on, run a few seconds, then shut itself off.
3. I have run the vacumn lines and can not find ay defects - leaks. Put guage on vacumn line and have good consistant 13#'s.
What do I need to do next?

Same goes for me on my wife's '04 with 75k miles but no misfire... These codes show their ugly heads for a while and haven't shown for a couple of months. It seemed that the SAI pump would come on at a light when it was somewhat cold (for Texas at least) outside.
Anyone have any ideas? This is the only ****ling thing on our LR minus head gaskets which I'll tackle in a month...

light is off for over 200 miles...
I pulled evry vacuum line that I could find and put them back on. No obvious loose or leaking connections. Dicon'd and recon'd the battery and have drien over 200 miles without the SES light coming on.
SAP still comes on at a various times. I dunno... still need to have inspected and am going to give it a shot this afternoon. wish me luck and I'll post the results...

I'm thinking you need a scan tool to clear the codes properly. I have a 96 Disco that won't clear the codes just by disconnecting the battery. Some auto parts stores will do it for you but I bought my own for about $200 a few years ago and it has paid for itself. It was a cheap program that I loaded on my laptop. Autotap is the name of it. Very basic but it will point you in the right direction.

hilltoppersx, I guess I am the "douche" since no mechanic has done any work on my disco except me and that is limited to vacuum line inspection. lol.
whatever I did worked. drove it a little over 300 miles before I got a chance to take it in for the inspection sticker. ran through with flying colors???

no not you. i meant the douche inspector who wouldnt pass it.
