im looking for the black plastic cover that goes over the battery. it cover not only the battery but also most of the bottom left side of the under hood area? i.e. the battery compartment and the fuse box area.

anybody know where to get one and what its proper name is?

I don't really know, but if it were up to me, it would be called the Underhood Battery and Fuse Protection System 2000 Gold Series. Only $19.95.........
