We've got steering pump whine on the automatic disco 2 v8 and I've been looking at replacing it, which I'm sure is within my limits (ish)
The issue i have is that pretty much every pump I've come across is marked/advertised as td5 steering pump and I'm honestly not sure if they are a shared part across both engines.

Is there anyone who can confirm whether the td5 would work with our v8.........its a novice question I'm sure but I just don't know

Have you tried a fluid flush and replacing it with Rover-spec fluid such as Pentosin CFH 11S? I was stunned at how much whine went away when I did that.

 

I don’t know for sure but I would guess the pump for the petrol and Diesel engines aren’t interchangeable. If you go to https://new.lrcat.com/ you can search your part numbers.
