Default Passenger Rear Door Mechanism

I've tried searching but I don't know if I'm using the right terms or what but I'm looking if there is a way to access the rear passenger door lock mechanism. I took off the door card during a repair of the speaker and it looks like it's put in there before the door is welded up (which seems odd). Ultimately the door doesn't open from the inside and I think the cable from the interior pull is disconnected. Thoughts or experiences?

There are a few torx screws that hold the window frame in place. With the window UP undo these and lift up the frame about 2 inches. That lets you see down into the lock cable connectors (green things). The speakers were not in my way. Just have to unhook the window switch wiring harness and speaker connector and remove the door card. I replaced the whole lock and cables/pull link in less than an hour.

Here is what you see (from my build):

That is tremendously helpful, thank you so much for posting. Right now our 3 year old sits by that door, so not being able to open it from the inside is more of a feature than a bug, but it's been something that's been on the list for a while!

When working correctly you should already have a child safety door lock switch that prevents the rear passenger doors from opening from the inside.

Don’t worry, that’s already seen some action in my Subaru where the handle is within easy grasp of tiny hands! She can’t quite reach the Disco’s handle yet but I’m going to double check the child safety lock just in case, thanks for the reminder!

The 'child lock' is inaccessible from the inside so she will not be able to open the door. You may want to check this as your door does not currently open from the inside.....
