Possibly because instead of the regulator aligning the window, your hand is. It only takes about 12 minutes to check if your regulator is bad, not a bad idea.

The loud Ka Chunk noise indicates a broken regulator, usually the roller. sometimes the welds break.

The wind noise in a different issue.
