Grab the end with a pair of pliers and twist till the tube comes out. Once it is out, cut the end with the disc off of it with a tubing cutter. Then drill the plastic baffle out and just tap the tube back in the valve cover
It's just pressed in, but it came lose very easily on mine. Put a short piece of rubber hose over the tube (to prevent scratches) and try to wiggle it with a vice grip.
I was going to do the PCV mod on my 2004 disco2 and i dont see the plastic baffle on the oil seperator end. All there is, is a metal tube. See pic.
Do I remove this from the valve cover? Any ideas on how to easily remove it?
thanks in advance!
The easiest way to pull the PVC tube out is with Hose Pliers. These have a little round open tip at the end to grab hoses. It will grab the PVC tube and easily pull it out.
Harbor Freight sells a set for cheap.
I have SAI, so it's crowded around that area in the engine, and I struggled to pull it out with various regular pliers. Hose pliers took seconds.
Thank you all for the suggestions. I soaked it it penetrating oil for a day, then got a vise grip from Harbor freight and it took me a few seconds to wiggle and pull it out. I cant’t believe its just held in place by tapping, but oh well.
I was able to push out the plstic baffle and enlarge the hole with a drill. Managed to get some minor scuffs in the process but looks like the hose went back on it nicely and the truck feels a tad bit smoother and less noisy. Thank you all again!
