I learned the wax trick from my Father what feels like a 100 years ago now.
Capillary action is a good thing, and it's almost scary how well/fast it works.

It's a great trick as a last resort, but heating up a bolt destroys the heat treat. If you do that you always want to replace the hardware. Probably should anyway if it was rusted, but alas.

Second set of tests is out, now including the famed Kroil! Looks like I'll be sticking with ATF/Seafoam for now.

I've used Kroil for many years.
When nothing gets a rusted bolt out, Kroil always does.

i just got some wd40 penetrating rust dissolving formula, but I have some atf and seafoam hanging around. I’ll use the wd40 on drivers side of the exhaust manifold, and atf seafoam on the passenger side.
