permanent headliner removal?
I've read through about a dozen headliner repair/repl threads- but I haven't come across what I'm looking for. Maybe I suck at searching, who knows. The question I have is, has anyone just said F it and threw the headliner out completely?
It just seems to me after reading all the stuff on here, that the sunroof assemblies are so unreliable that they'll need constant service access. I have no desire to just seal them over and never use them again. I'd like to pull the switch/motor/ECU assemblies and convert them to manual crank. That said, I'd prefer not to go through all that only to have the sunroof fail again, and have to pull the headliner again to address.
My idea right now is to just toss the headliner, and then repaint the roof assembly on the inside light tan to match the trim. I work in a body shop, so I can do this relatively inexpensively. Has anyone done something like this? How did it turn out?

if you mean..not put the shell back, that is ugly. a bunch of junk hidden up there. if you mean dump the fabric and paint the fiberglass, then yes. many do it, myself included, works perfectly fine. easy to clean. worry free
