Default Persistent Amigos....

So I originally bought the truck last year
2001 D2

Had the Amigos when I bought it.

Replaced the drivers front wheel speed sensor and all was well until it wasn't one random day.

The amigos were on all winter and I finally got the time to work on it.

Has a svs fault as well as front left wheel sensor (electrical failure)

Just did the option B and it took care of the svs fault

Replaced the wheel speed sensor AGAIN because the one I put in from ebay was I guess too long and the tooth knicked it. You can plainly see where.

Pulled it out and replaced it then cleared the codes.

Drove for about 5 miles without the amigos. Turned onto a street and then they came back.

Current new faults
1) Front left sensor erratic (p0840)
2) Front left sensor output too low (p0440)

What the heck...its a brand new sensor.

Cleared them and they instantly came right back.

What do you all think?

Check for wheel bearing play. The hub assembly might have excessive play in it. How’s your brake fluid look? If it’s dirty do a flush on it with dot 4.

Hub issue if it's eating the sensors. Also put the abs sensors in that are hard wired to the slabs. Only way to fix them properly.

I can’t stand the abs sensors that run all the way back to the SLABS. It’s just two wires, I’ve used the same trailer plug for them we use for the Option B Fix when I extended my rear sensors. Zero issues! The issue is over time the OEM connectors become brittle & break or collect moisture & fault.

Can you elaborate on this?

@KCRover .. I'd check the LF ABS connector since it's easy to do.
Clear ABS fault codes,
disconnect left front ABS plug,
spray some contact cleaner in/on both connectors,
shake out leftover liquid contact cleaner or let it completly dry,
add dielectric grease in female plug,
reconnect and got for a drive.
Heck... do all of your ABS connectors if you have the time.

AB sells the ABS sensors with like 10 extra feet of cable. Best 4x4 doesn't like them apparently. To each there own

What scan tool did you use to pull the codes? I only ask because my Delphi autocom was throwing a code for the wrong sensor. It said RR erratic. I replqced it and code came back. Turned out it was actually my LF sensor.
I verified the scanner was incorrect by watching live data, then unplugging the LF sensor and it threwa code for RR electrical failure.

The long cables = try to do repairs later on when you can simply just unplug the sensor and do your repairs.

You CAN NOT do that with the long ABS sensor wires. The ABS sensor wire = just a pair of wires. Nothing special about them. If your OEM connectors are crumbling apart you can buy fancy Injector style male/female harnesses or you can use a 2 wire trailer type connection. There is NO need for the long ABS wires & there no real advantage to them.
