I've done my wheels and been astonished how well it stays on. Not a single scuff or nick yet.

My preparation was just a good clean then a wipe with acetone. Took about 4 coats.

Doing wheels is a good introduction to Pdip I think.

I like the idea of doing the spare tyre cover in something. Mine has a dealer logo I want to get rid of. Thinking of something to cover it with.

Tip. If you are considering Pdipping the wife, try on an inconspicuous area first to check if it stains.

It holds up fine, I've dipped my MGB 4 different times. I'm peeling it off for a new look though not because it was failing. Pics of mine are in the not a rover build thread. The 110 will be getting done shortly.

This was better financially than a $2200 vinyl wrap job or $2900 paint job which were quotes that I got before going with PDip.

I had to use rattle cans to do it since PlastiDip gallons are illegal and not available for purchase here in California but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out considering this is my first time plasti dipping an entire vehicle with rattle cans. It definitely looks better than the clear coat peeling tiger stripe look before I did it.

FINISHED PRODUCT:

Here's a "BEFORE" photo:

Wow, that looks great. I was going to go that route too on my hood and roof as the clear was very bad, but decided to Early Shieb mine for $300 in Satin Black. I am in El Cajon, what part of SD are you from?

Thanks MPDan! I'm in Tierrasanta off the 15 freeway. Did you do your whole DII in satin black or just the hood and roof?

Just hood and roof. The rest of the dark green paint is ok by me. The peeling clear on the hood just really bothered me to look at while driving.

The hood and roof look great! Let me know if you want to do the rest of the body and wheels in PDip black to match the roof and hood. We can do the body in satin black and the wheels in gloss black. I'll go it for free if you buy the Dip. There is a learning curve involved in spraying this stuff correctly so I can share that with you so it comes out well first time around and you can avoid the first time mistakes.

We can go for this "look"

That looks really great! I'm amazed you did that with rattle cans. Did you use the upgraded can nozzle that they sell or just the one that came on it?

Thanks Alex! I just used the nozzle that came on the rattle cans with a Rustoleum trigger gun. You have to spray on slowly horizontally with 50% overlap at each pass. I felt like Daniel-san in Karate Kid when Miyagi was teaching him to paint.

Miyagi - "Put on Plasti Dip... side to side"
Me - "Yes sensei"

LOL

If I get the gallon can I just use my HVLP gun for that? Is it ready to spray or does it have to be reduced?
