I have an 04 discovery and the front bumper has a crack in the center section. No material missing, just a crack.

My plan was to use fiberglass cloth and resin to patch the crack from behind then fill in the gap with resin or bondo.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

 

they actually make a tool for that, it installes heated staples from the back to hold the break, then you can finish the front

 

that stapler sounds great.
best results I got was to
rough up area (mostly to clean and make a mechanical tooth)
do the same with a little metal/tin strip
jb weld from behind with clamping pressure attach
I filled the front with jb weld also, im sure bondo would have been fine

 

the staples have wwwww shape to them like old wood fastners, you heat them insert them then cut of anything extra on the back.

 

Anybody got a source for the W staples and the heating tool?

Hot stapler looks cool and I am a sucker for new tools, but I fear I am amassing an arsenal of one time use specialty tools!!!

Anybody know if the plastic the bumper is made from is compatible with resin? As in, will the resin melt the plastic?
