Default Play in driveline - 99 Disco II

Greetings. What do you consider an acceptable amount of play in the driveline? From what I can tell....I have about a 1/2 inch in the rear pumpkin and about the same in the transfer case. (when I say half inch, I mean I can turn my driveshaft approx that much between contact points.) Is there an easy way to tighten this up? Do I need to? Right now I am running in 2WD with the diff locked as I repair my front driveshaft and it was during this removal/troubleshooting process I discovered this. Since I got this with 68k, I have noticed some play when driving. At 45mph on a flat road, if I come off the gas and then lightly fluctuate...I feel and hear this slap. Should I be concerned?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Very typical of Rovers and most 4wheelers to have some slack when getting on and off the gas. You are fine, shouldn't really get any worse and glad to hear you are working on your front shaft, hope you decided to repair it before it let loose.
