Post Please help in Atlanta

Grand Rising Everyone-hope all is well.

I have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery SE
Mileage: 142 322

1st-is there any honest land rover specialist/mechanic in the Atlanta area that is willing to look at my truck? I live dwntwn near the stadium.

I did have a full diagnostic test at a European shop who has done the following: (replaced o2 sensor, (bank 1 and 2), exhaust manifold gasket & air mass meter)

Current codes: P0174 P1174 P1412 P0335-Check Engine Light on
P0150 & P0159 is no longer showing up during scan

Codes were cleared on Monday due to immobilizer issue (random) which has been resolved.
Drove truck 1 day (approx 22 miles)-no issues
Drove truck 2nd day (yesterday) and no issues at 1st then a hiccup-check engine light appears
Truck idles rough/loud-sometimes shut off when warming up or at a stop.
Today on the way to have codes pulled-Flashing D, M, & S on dashboard-then truck went into limp mode. Starts back up.
Oil leak-spot here and there

I do have a trust worthy mechanic but this is not his specialty and i cant continue to pay off assumptions

Thank You kindly for all feedback.

You most likely have a vacuum leak, a big one, Flashing D M & S are one sign as are the codes.

Have have been in this position myself ai intake hose came off at the throttle body.

Check the:
  • air cleaner
  • Hose from the air cleaner to the throttle body
  • Battery, M&S will flash if you have a low a battery you can get odd codes as the ECM wants good voltage
  • Alternator just in case it is dying
  • Then every single vacuum line needs to be checked for leaks

  1. I strongly recommend you STOP taking the truck to someone who is not a LR specialist. It cost you more than it should do to their lack of knowledge.
  2. Look up the codes and post the explanation here, even though we see it all the time we don't memorize them.
  3. Good LR specialist in Greenville SC called Eurover if you don't have one in ATL.

He’s right ^^

They will rake you over the coals and you’ll end up paying more in shop time than the truck is worth. Stay here and ge5 all the answers you need.

Welcome to the forum.

There are quite a few Land Rover Specialists in Georgia but you'll have to drive a bit outside of the I285 (I lived in Smyrna):
- "Bear Valley Service" in Roswell … My go to LR garage if I couldn't handle a job or to get some insight. Great people and they will install the parts you bring them.
- "The Shop" Land Rover specialists in Norcross ... I never used their services but I always used to drive past their shop since they had all kind of Defenders sitting outside.
- "Rocco's European Garage 2" in Marietta ... they are a great garage but costly since their main clientele are Bentley and Rolls owners. Their other Rocco's garage in Buckhead is way too expensive as you would know due to the area.
- "British Precision" in Alpharetta … Another LR specialist that I never got to use but I'd cruise by to look at the LRs parked at the garage.

Thanks guys for the feed back.
My mechanic is just someone who i trust to works on all 4 of my cars and he will tell me if he cant do the job or just unsure.
Plus he educates me on the jobs and is resourceful and again i trust
I put in a new battery b/c the truck was sitting a great deal for the past 1 yr or so.
He has changed out the alternator and front 02 sensor and thoroughly took time to inspect the truck
My mechanic showed me on the scanner the o2 sensors jumping up and down but 1 of them would jump/down and then remain still if that makes sense. That is when he said to take the truck to a specialist and get a smoke test.
I took the truck to Roccos in Buckhead for a full diagnosis.
They have replaced o2 sensor (bank 2), exhaust manifold gasket and air mass meter but i have the same issue and the truck sounds worse and leaking oil more than before.
I just didnt trust that situation any longer nor have the money to pay off of assumption along w/ shop parts.
My mechanic suggested that i do an emission waiver considering the amount of money i put in the truck in which i did yesterday.
I still want to get the truck fully fixed which is the reason why i posted here looking for a passionate/honest LR specialist in the Atlanta area.
Current codes: P0174 P1174 P1412 P0335-Check Engine Light on

P0150 & P0159 is no longer showing up during scan
Truck will stall sometimes while idling (initial start up/warm up or at a stop)
Sometimes will crank right back up or you may have to wait 1 minute or so.
Hiccups while driving and the A/C blower went out if that matters
Thanks again for the feedback and will look at taking it to another shop most likely to Bear Valley Service if i cant find a specialist outside of a shop.

Grand Rising
Thanks again for all feedback.
My mechanic advised me to take the truck and have a smoke test done by a Landrover specialist.
Reason-after he changed out o2 sensor-front he showed me on his scanner how 1 of the sensor was getting stuck meaning it was not jumping like the others if that makes sense.
I took my vehicle to Rocco in Buckhead who changed out o2, manifold gasket and air mass meter and the truck appears to be in worst condition than before.
At this point my mechanic suggested that i apply for an emission waiver in which i did so iam just waiting to hear back from them.
Current codes: P0174 P1174 P1412 P0335-Check Engine Light on
P0150 & P0159 is no longer showing up during scan
