So I'm relatively new to the site first post. I have read all the posts on the "ticking" engine noise for my 2000 disco. My motor ticks bad at idle but when you apply throttle it gets better. So here's what I have done so far. New oil pump, new lifters and rockers. My mechanic saw a tsb from land rover stating that it is from the rockers. I have been trading all this work out and I'm about done with my end if the trade so it's going to start costing me money. I don't want to keep throwing parts and labor at this thing please any suggestions would be great!

Did your mechanic measure the oil pressure?

Check oil pressure at idle and 2k rpm. Should be well above 10 at idle and 50 at 2k rpm. Make sure you're running good oil and the right weight...ie: not 10w30. Also install the larger Mann/Purolator oil filter if you haven't yet.

My truck ticked like crazy till I replaced the oil pump and did all of the above. Quiet as a mouse now.
