2004 Range Rover HSE
It stuck in park. I can move the shifter forwards/backwards but does not engage the transmission, and always shows its in P on the dash display.

Recently the battery went dead, i charged battery, on way to buy a new one I experienced the above.

Having he same issue on my 2006. Turned key on and off a few times and moved the offroad sand, mud, etc **** and I got it to engage in drive. Trying to figure out problem but don't have scanner to hook up to computer. Might have to take it to the stealership to get it diagnosed

 

Check the backup light fuse, it might be burned out.....

 

Check the backup lite switch. Sometimes it gets stuck. It's underneath next to the brake pedal.
