Ok, i guess i will wait on buying the part till i get it in the garage and get it all together and see what it is doing to better diagnose the problem. i see what you are saying though. maybe i should try to talk to a rover mechanic? the dealership? it makes sense that if they are sold separately like that i could just buy the parts. I think that if you talk to the dealersip they will try and sell you a new engine.
Put it back together, change the oil and filter, drive it gently for 500 miles, changeit again.
Diesel oil has a very high detergant content and will help clean the inside like a full synthetic oil will but is much less expensive than full syn.
