Ok I snapped a few pics of the wires in question, the green ones are right near the connectors for the coil packs, one on each side. The yellow wire appears to be a repair to the red/white stripe alternator wire. I pulled back some of the loom around the green wires and it appears that there is some sort of capacitor attached to it? any help would be awesome.

Earth (ground) wires are Black, the wires you've described don't sound like factory wiring.
