If it was in Dallas and everything in the ad was true it would be a good deal.

Get that price down by $500 to a $1000 to be more in line with the market.
Plann on repair the front drive shaft and doing a major service on it to get it current.

I think Mike said it. Plan on having an extra $500 to $1K to put into it so you aren't upset right off the bat.

Just an FYI here, Rovers are Four Wheel Drive, Not all wheel drive.

Like everyone has said, look at it, sometimes ads make a terrible vehicle sound great. I think its also always a good idea to have a mechanic look over it if you dont know exactly what to look for.

if they balk at taking off $500-$1000 then bring up how the front shaft needs to be replaced and how it will do $5K in damage if not taken care of.

If the head gaskets haven't been done, budget for that as well. If not now, then soon, like in the next 20k miles...

And check the condition of the rotors, that's a spendy replacement. I don't recall the wear limit, but if someone can supply that, the quick check is to carry an open-end wrench of the next size up. If it slides on the rotor, it's time for a new one.

I paid $5k for a 2002 with 107k miles, with 3k miles on a new set of pads and rotors, and less than 1k on a cylinder head job. Still had to bring it current on the 60 service, and do the front driveshaft, but the really expensive stuff was done.
