I think an older D1 gutted and filled with a Chevy 350/double-pumper Holley would be a great set-up...not too pricey! Not willing to do that on my 04 though, so my talk is cheap.

 

I would only do this on a pre-obd2 vehicle personally. As cool as it would be to have a different engine, it only matters to me if it's road legal.

That only works if I remain friends with the person! I wouldn't sink $XX into a build and not have it be legal in years to come. I don't believe I ever said differently, but could be wrong.

 

I agree that a D1 would be the better choice for a complete driveline swap but I have what I have.
As for engine swaps, up north here in Canada we can get away with quite a bit as for as mods and swaps without many legal issues and our emmisions test is being scrubbed very soon so even better.

 

I'm an Alaska resident...I think they share Canada's nonchalance for emissions/mods.
