Hello,

So I had my mechanic look at my car this evening for the first time as I was going to look into having him replace the U - joints and he looked at them and said they were all greasable. Is it possible that mine came with them? is he looking at the wrong place? Did the previous owner take care of this? It was a lease so I dont know why they would....

He is very reputable he was the chief mechanic at a BMW store here in town for 16 years.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

it is not out of the realm of possibility that they have been swapped out if the last owner was worried about them going south.

the easiest way to check is to look at the u joints for yourself and see if their is a fitting sticking out of the joints for a grease fitting.

i am having mine swapped at a shop as we speak...

 

yeah i just picked up my rover a couple weeks ago and one of the PO's had apparently changed the u-joints out... so its not completely unlikely... best look for yourself though..

Disco2Guy has a nice pic of his double cardon after being rebuilt.
It is with another thread a couple of pages back, look for any driveshaft or u-joint thread.
