Default Power steering knock

I recently replaced my power steering pump and now when the vehicle is started there is a knocking noise that gets faster with accleration and disappears at 3k rpm
The serpintine belt is brand new and is completely secure
Could it be the quality of the pump?
Its a remanufactured duralast pump
I only bought it as a quick fix so i would have power steering again
Has anybody else experienced this?
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
On the up side the vehicle no longer whines while turning
Veh is a 99 disco 2 with 225k miles

When I was going back & forth with my pump and did a search on this forum I read several threads pertaining to problems with new, after market PS pumps. Best bet is to get a good used OE unit and return the Duralast if you are sure it is the source of the noise.

Hopefully not a cylinder sleeve loose.

Try to take the tension off the belt and see if the noise goes away
when the PS pump is not spinning.
