Default Power steering pump

So I have had a progressive leak of my power steering fluid and I finally took it into the shop since it was getting pretty bad. THe tech said I needed to replace my pump because the seals were leaking.

Is this common? And my gawd those pumps for a D2 are pricey. I was expecting only to replace one of the lines because thats were I thought I saw the leak. I am kind of curius if I am getting worked by the tech or if those pumps actually develop common leaks.

Be careful with re-built pumps, they have a pretty high failure rate.
Have you actually power scrubbed off the hoses and pump to verify if the pump is leaking, usually it is a hose.
