Thats pretty funny right there

71k miles and no rust = at least double that..........
Location is moot if its rust free - if anything that'll drive the price up as any other one from the area is certainly rusted.

I actually looked on CL in MI for D1's and D2's and what they were going for. Since his truck needs front & rear bumper and the window fixed, I think it is a fair asking price or at least a bench mark to get his thread back on topic.

So using SearchTempest I searched CL for 2000-2003 since 04 has the CDL.
Set criteria to under 100k miles and within 300 miles of Detroit zip code since I dont know where in MI he is.

I found 4

03 with 89k for 4500
03 with 93k for $3200 but shuts off and needs electrical repairs
03 with 95k for $7200 - looks nice
No year - 89k - $6500

So yes, I'd start at least $6k and work from there since its the lowest mileage and rust free in a rust prone region.
You could also do yourself a favor and replace the bumpers from the salvage yard so you dont have to advertise the broken ones - then can ask for more $$$$
Search car-part.com by region for the parts you need.
If possible, minimize what someone can bitch about and allow you to keep the price up.

I feel like the bumper damage will detract more than you think. Factory bumper plastics(which if someone is going for a NICE CLEAN truck, they are probably going to stick with) are $$$$$$$

Even aftermarket steel bumpers are going to run anywhere from 350-800 each depending on brand, and then you need to deal with install. Not a "small no biggy" kinda thing. Without photos, I would put it at 3000-3500 unless there were service records to back up that nothing is wrong, we all know it is going to be leaking oil and have some upcoming repairs unless it has had a bunch done to it in the recent past.

The 5-6k pricing is for cars that have been gone through and recently had major work done to remedy the usual suspects

This just simply is not true. Maybe its region based.
Within "any" distance on AutoTrader, 00-03 D2 under 100k miles, there is ONE - only minor maint mentioned in the ad, nothing motor related and a $14.5k price tag.

There are TWO on Ebay under 75k miles - one for $9500 and one for $15k
Both are very nice obviously but puts this more into perspective.
The OP could fix the obvious issues and ask over $6k with no problem - maybe more if it presents well and he has some maint records to go with it.

03 with 75k miles sold on BAT for $6k - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...r-discovery-8/
Assuming the OP's SD model has no sunroofs, one could argue it'd be more valuable.... 4.0 vs 4.6 as well??

You can list a car for any price you want... doesn't mean its going to sell for that price.

BAT listings always pull much higher than the average private party sale, and eBay listings will sit there for months when priced too high. Make what you will of that...

I get that. But...
I can't find a $3k D2 that isn't some version of **** or over 200k miles in my area.
I paid $4500 for my 02 SD with 199k miles because it had a lot of service records and maint. He wanted $5k.
OP has 70k miles and two broke bumpers and getting lumped into Lessor value??
I guess time will tell.

This is a prime example - https://www.atlantaonwheels.com/inventory.aspx?sold=0
Clean, completely "gone through" with engine rebuild and all of them are over $10k, most are more.
And they all sell.

Getting a "gone through" D2 for 5-6k is nonsense right now.....
You might find one with "head gaskets replaced" for that but will certainly have double the miles of the OPs

I see parts trucks or 180K listed for higher than book. Its a stock rover, clean and no issues other than what's stated. I'm pretty sure we all know what a stock rover looks like, but I'll work on a pic for ya.
Useless?
I'm giving you sound advice to help us help you. You cant expect people to make any kind of offer sight unseen let alone picture unseen. Your whole ad wreaks of opinion. Facts are 70,000 miles. Any comment about clean is strictly opinion. Any comment about nothing wrong is strictly opinion. People dont usually talk their cars down.
I'll go $1500 until I can see it. Hows that? Itll need head gaskets very soon. Idk if its ticking, water pump, ps groans, seats cracking etc.

Sometimes you gotta work for the money.
