Problem with Immobilizer?
Hello all, I have a NAS 1999 Discovery 2 and have lost my remote key. I have my door key and also a spare ignition key that I had made by a locksmith a year ago. The locksmith key is only metal (no circuit board or chip) and will not get the steering out of lock.
I've read some posts that mention this truck does not have an immobilizer and others say it does. If it does can I use the EKA method to unlock the steering column? Or will it not work anyway unless I have a key with a chip? If I dismantle the ignition will it start with the screwdriver method? I don't want to go to the trouble of dismantling the ignition and attempt the screwdriver method if it wont work anyway. Can anybody help?

The steering column is not locked by the alarm. If the key won't turn then it's not cut right.
The door key and ignition keys should be the same unless the locks have been messed with, and neither the plastic key nor the metal one have a chip in them.
I sometimes find that you need to turn the wheel slightly to relieve the pressure on the lock in order to get the key to turn, not just in the Disco, but in other vehicles as well.

Well I tried moving the steering wheel while using the plastic door key that came with the truck and still no luck.
Today I'm resorting to the screwdriver method. There are some really good posts showing how to do it.
I only hope that the immobilizer doesn't spoil the show when I try to turn the engine over.
