Process for obtaining a second key?
What is the easiest and most cost efficient way to obtain a spare key w/ fob? I am buying an 02 disco II with one key w/ fob. My initial understanding is that I would look on eBay for an uncut key with fob (and barcode), and then go to the dealer for cutting and programming. Is this correct?
Thank you.
Thank you.

If you get one with the sticker on it an Indy guy with Autologic, nanocomm, or similar can code it.
If you are near so cal I sell remotes with new cases and key blade and code to your vehicle.

look up this company "Remote Key LTD UK"
They send you a key and programmer and price is 180.00 which includes 30.00 deposit for the programmer. It takes about 10 seconds to program the fob, and you return the programmer, they refund the deposit and email you the EKA code. total cost is around 150.00, then you take the key to locksmith and have the key cut. There have been several members who have done this. I did it and have had no issues whatsoever. My fob was dead and now i have a new key with fob, and all is well.

I've received the fob, programmed it, and then had the key cut. However, the key won't turn in the ignition. The fob locks/unlocks the doors, the key unlocks/locks the doors, and the key fits into the ignition. But it won't turn over. The original key is fine. What are your thoughts?
I would put them up next to each other and see where it may need a little filing to work

I just went this route. Hardware store key would open door but. not turn ignition. They recommended a lock smith to recut the key or cut another.
The best thing for me was simply slip the old blade off the old FOB and put it on the new FOB. The blade just pops right off and you can re-use it on the new device, like in this video. If the blade is loose, just use a drop of Elmer's glue.
