Default PS Gear Box...New or Rebuild

So the question is should i bother trying to rebuild the gear box I have or buck up and by a reman for a few hundred dollars? I have time but will the rebuild actually fix leak issues (pending I know what I am doing). I am going to tackle this when I replace the front end next month. 2000 Disco II

Nothing like pro's who have rebuilt many of these.
They will have the kinks worked out.
Ask for references.

if you do a search you will find lots of problems with power steering boxes rebuilt by the owners and rebuilt by shops, almost always have a problem. I personal would throw a used one on.

I'd go for a reman as they always work properly, particularly from this shop. DIY rebuilts are fraught with problems. DIY engines are easier to rebuild but not autoboxes as also the parts will cost you at least half as much as a reman. These guys know what they are doing - they do them all the time.

Sorry, word blindness or senior moment. I was thinking autobox not PS gearbox. In the PS box department I would go new or top quality reman. However, the TD5 uses a different and better PS box which is more substantial than the V8. Rarely get problems with them.

I saw where 2003 gear box fits the 2000 4.0 disco II? I just happen to be able to get a hold of 2003 cheaper than a 2000 gear box.
