But the cap should be the weak link, not the tank. I don’t remember what pressure they are supposed to relieve at but it’s not more than 20psi.

If the cap is working properly I agree. On our D1 it blew the bleeder plug out of the radiator instead of venting at the cap

D1 is like 15/16LB and a D2 is 20LB if I'm not mistaken.

I'm betting my D1 was closer to 30-40 lbs when the plug let go

Ive been happy with alisport. The powdercoat option blends in a little better than the raw al

Like that powder-coat. but I don’t use my carrs4x4 tank because I really like to see the actual level.

on a d1 you cant see it through the factory tan or black tanks anyways.

I put the cap from a range rover with the built in float switch on mine and hooked it up to a dash light. no need to even pop the hood to check coolant level

Just got that Behr tank from FCP Euro. Interesting, it's made out of a VERY different plastic than the other Lucky8 garbage I've received in the past. The L8 tanks are like a more opaque, rougher, more rigid plastic. This is almost transparent, feels thicker, smoother. I wonder if this means something.

Behr/Mahle stuff is generally pretty good quality. That seems comparable looking to the coolant tank I use on my 911 from them as well. Let us know how it takes to the heat cycles in the engine bay!
