Default Pulling Heads Off

I'm having trouble getting good access to the lower rear head bolt by cylinder 7. Is it possible to pull the heads without pulling the motor? I tried using a 1/2" drive 6pt socket and the longest ratchet I can get in there and can't seem to break it loose. Any recomendations?

Grunt harder when you try to break that head bolt loose.
No one pulls the engine when pulling the heads.
If you break your socket, and you may, buy a replacement made for an impact wrench, they are a lot stronger.

Make sure that socket gets on there nice and straight so you don't strip the bolt. I had to put a 3 footpipe over my 2 footbreaker bar to get them out. Also, wobble extensions are your friend.

I have done 2 of these. I learned on the first one to take a hammer and dent in the firewall just enough to get a socket with a breaker bar in there straight. If you don't get on the bolts straight you are asking for trouble - rounding off a bolt head! I also learned the hard way to use impact wrench sockets after breaking 2 sockets on the first one and rounding off a bolt. A breaker bar is a necessity.
