Default Putting a non-rover motor in a rover?

Would it be possible to put a non-rover motor in a rover? I'm looking at a 2000 disco 2 that has a blown motor, I read about all the head gasket problems etc and I'm wondering if there is a motor out there that would be a bolt in replacement (or maybe just different motor mounts) like a chevy, ford or something else? Or would it be more work than it's worth?
Thanks,

Unfortunately, the consensus will be no. The only semi-realistic option is a rover diesel, which is still an expensive option. All other swaps (GM smallblock or anything else) will be cost prohibitive given the value of the truck. Sorry, I wish there was something that would work too.

There is no other engine that is a bolt on replacement. All other engines will end up costing more in the end due to extensive modifications.

In my opinion, it's not worth it. Way too expensive and you will need to upgrade the drivetrain to handle extra power.

Here is a link to a conversion kit for a Chevy V6 or V8.

What is wrong with the engine? How much are they asking for the Disco?

Thanks,
anything is possible, just depends on what it's worth to you and how fat your wallet is! I agree with others that you would have to change out your drivetrain as it's just not suited for the torque of a chevy or ford engine but sure it can be done. I wouldn't mind doing it myself if I had the time or money.

The other challenge with a swap is emissions legality. Swapping an older engine or engine from another manufacturer is not allowed in many states.

Default The seller wants $1,200

The Disco II is a 2000 with 90K miles on it and all the seller said was that the motor was burned up and he wants $1,200. I found it interesting that he also said (at 90k miles) that it has a new trans, drive train and water pump.
It's too bad the chevy conversion kit cost so much, that might be a good way to go.
Anyway thanks for the advice.
