I guess my point is that I don't want to worry about any of that, ever. I want to carry a crank sensor, a rotoflex, and an extra quart of oil and go 300,000 miles with the engine never having to come apart past the ancillary components.

That's understandable. Not worth the worry to me, though, and honestly I'm only about two steps away from that with the work done to mine. All I lack is welded sleeves and cam bearings, and frankly I think that my sleeves are fine as they are based on the fact that my engine has been overheated and the sleeves are still holding strong.

My planned use is 3 to 5 day trips well out of cell phone range, 200 to 300 km up a variety of FSR's. Covering anywhere from 1000 to 2000 KM a trip.

I am a bit OCD on maintenance as a result, a well maintained truck should generally survive that amount of off road time without issues. Hidden stuff can fail catastrophically but it can on any vehicle no matter the age.

But for me spares are pretty basic, serpentine belt, rad hoses just the big ones, thermostat just because I now have a spare and I will add a crank sensor based on my reading.
