99 disco II.........getting ready to pull tranny ( after replacing a fried tcase and still no movement) and noticed I can shift the tcase into H N L in any selector position on the Trans.....P R N D1234 Rover started or not. key on or not.
I also pulled the Torque Converter inspection plate and could see that cranking away in Drive ( have the car up and shafts removed ) .
Any thoughts before i pull the tranny?

Bummer.
While you are in there you could replace the rear main seal on the engine.
I have not heard of rear main seals leaking much on these D2's though.

And it the rear main is not leaking - maybe not touch it?
