Default Question is this is a good deal.

I am in the market for a discovery II I found what appears to be a well taken care of 2004 HSE7 with new head gaskets about 6 months ago.
My question is is it worth the 9,500 they want for it with 109,000 miles.

I just don't want to waist a trip up to Denver if you guys don't think its a good deal.

The Auto trader Car ID is AT-1582DB04
for some reason it wouldn't let me post a link.

There are LR3's for that same amount of money in Los Angeles and elsewhere.
Avoid the 4.6 engine and the sleeve / oveheat problems of the Discovery II.
That truck you are looking at is going for TOP Dollar
and will need head gaskets sooner than later.

It says that it had new head gaskets put in 6 months ago. If that's true or not I don't know. I was thinking about offering $6,000 and seeing what they say. I just don't know what a good price is for it. I haven't seen many hse7's for sale to base a price on.

over 100k. if all else is just as it should be and has no issues, I would think 6 is fair. 9.5k would be top dollar if it were looooow mileage and like new, but it is still 10-11 years old.
I paid 8k for mine a few years ago and it had less than 70k miles, on it. there were less expensive ones, but this one had all the stuff I wanted (ace, 7pass, gray interior, no leaks, etc)
keep looking. I see great trucks in the 5k to 6k ballpark, regularly

$9.5K even a 2004 in mint condition with 50K on the clock wouldn't be worth that. Tops it's worth $6K and verification of the service history and HG's being done. Even a dummy in the UK wouldn't pay that price (V8's aren't 'de rigear' in the UK or europe anyways) and with that mileage, that's £5,750 if it were me I'd keep looking at that price.

This is one being sold by some 'Mickey Mouse' dealer. Land Rover Discovery 4.0 V8i ES Premium 7 seat 5dr Auto

As a point of reference, I bought my 2003 SE at 79K last year for $7,400. It came with the full factory brushguard, chevron steps, JVC head unit with Bluetooth and 7" movie screen:

I suggest not offering a price until the Disco has undergone a pre-purchase inspection with a reputable LR shop. Get the head gaskets checked out to make sure the job was done right in the first place.

Perhaps start $7K to 8K .... then use the findings of the pre-purchase inspection to negotiate down the final offer price for the necessary repairs.

I emailed the seller earlier this morning to ask about service records and where the head gaskets were done at for verification. If all that checks out I will probably go look at it and get a ppi done. Then offer $5500-6000, I can always go up in price on my offer but not down.
