So the OBD2 port always stays powered even with the key out. Does the Ultragauge turn off automatically after some time or does it remain on? I'm somewhat worried about it draining the battery.

the only time i have had the UltraGauge stay on is if i plugged it in when the Rover was not turned on.

if you have the key turned to the ON position and then plug the UltraGauge in you should be fine leaving it plugged in at all times.

Mine stays plugged in 24/7 and turns itself off when I turn the key off.

 

Yep, it does shut off. I've had no probs with it staying on after the Disco was off.

That said, I did have some issues with it sometimes not turning on. I could press a button on the back to get it on but I fiddled with it so it would reliably come on every time/I changed a setting.... I have mine set to detect a certain voltage (maybe 12.8 or something, I adjusted it up and down a few times to get the right voltage) and whenever it detects that (ie car on or running and alt charging) the screen of the UG turns on.
