Default Quick question "should I just replace this alternator now?

Tach keeps bobbing and going to zero as I posted in another thread. Last night it was at zero for about 10 min, then popped up a few times, then started working again... I can't seem to get the multimeter on it while it's at zero... When it's working the alternator is throwing voltage, when the tach is at zero the truck hasn't had a chance to die yet... the battery always tests fine and this morning it tested at 14 with the car running? Could this tach issue be anything else or is the alternator just cutting out from time to time and not giving the battery a chance to die?

Check all the wires on the alternator first, if they are clean and tight then you may want to get that alternator ordered soon.

Thanks mike, I did check everything and it was all fine, so I'm a little lost... I went ahead and put a new alternator in and the tach works fine now plus the disco is running smoother etc...

Also FYI autozone carries these alternators and they're only $200... I think it's the only rover part they carry. It's prob a junk part but it comes with a life time warranty so worst case I end up having to swap it out at some point...

Thanks for all the help as usual guys!
