Default R1 Concepts rotors and pads

When I first picked up my Disco, I also picked up a set of R1Conceptsdrilled and slotted rotors, and the pads that came with them ( $252 + S&H) Any one have any experience with these. I don't want to install them if they're crap. I have been looking for pads from retailers (NAPA, etc) and I am thinking I am going to have to wait and order some EBC's or Akebono's from an online supplier. Looks like I'll have to put off this brake job for another week [sm=smiley24.gif]

Talk to Steve at, http://www.dap-inc.com/index.shtml
he has the best price on EBC's.
As for the quality of the rotors, lets just say, at 1/3 the price of DBA's, I really don't think you got a good long term brake solution, and I could be wrong.
Good luck

Do you off road? I have heard of people with drilled and slotted rotors having trouble with mud getting into the holes and messing up the wheel balance.
On the other hand I put drilled and slotted rotors on my ex wifes Mazda MPV when we were still married and it improved stopping distance by a HUGE margin.

If you take good care of your truck and clean it after a day in the mud, you won't have any mud in the hole issues.

I would stay away from cross drilled rotors. They are much more likely to crack unless you buy the very high quality rotors. On top of that, you don't really even need cross drilled rotors if you have better quality brake pads (they don't release the large amounts of gas), and lastly, they'll chew through your brake pads wicked fast. Save your money and buy a simple vented rotor, or if you want a little more stopping power at the expense of the pads, get the slotted/grooved and vented rotors.
