Radiator Cold, but Good Temps.

So I let it sit nose way up for the rest of the weekend. Bled it out again this morning and drove it to lunch. Moving temps were between 206 and 215.
Sitting in the parking lot running now for about 20 minutes the gauge hasn't moved from 212*F. The bottom hose on the rad is 90* and the top hoses are 180ish. The radiator is cold to the touch in the middle and towards the bottom.
As of now I'm assuming this is normal and nothing to worry about?

I went to the genuine 180 Tstat and it worked for a while but I ended up having temperature spikes with it as well. Ever since I did the inline thermostat mod I've had no issues. I highly recommend it and it's incredibly easy to do. I run 183-188.6 all the time. I occasionally hit 190 but thats it.

Ideal Disco temps are under 200. 188.6-195.8 is the best. What else have you replaced?

I never realized this but after reading through the RAVE the thermostat is a pressure bypass unit, which means that it only allows coolant from the radiator back into the system when there is enough pressure created by the water pump. This would explain why the bottom of the radiator is so cold. It's only taking colder coolant from the radiator when it needs to and mostly when the engine is under load.
I have ordered a genuine 180 thermostat from Rovers North and look forward to installing that this week.

Little update.
Got the 180 stat from Rovers North. Installed that and now the radiator seems to have even temperature and engine temps are between 185-195 slowly moving around town. Seems like she's back to normal finally. I have a coolant temp sensor to pop in to see if that changes temps at all. When dead cold it reads a few degrees higher than the ambient sensor, but that could be for a series of reasons.
Thanks for all your help. Finally getting everything figured out. Just have to wash it all down now to get rid of the slight coolant smell when she's hot (No leaks)
