Default Radiator Help

I currently have a 1997 LR DISCOVERY. The radiator recently blew out most of the coolant that was in the expanstion tank, so I let it cool and refilled it. About 20 miles later it started coming down like a river so I parked it. It looked as though it was leaking from the expansion tank, and I don't want to take any chances so I am going to have it towed soon to my local mechanic. I was wondering if it was common for just the expansion tank to have a leak or if it is most likely do to other problems with the radiator. I filled it again just to see where it was leaking and it leaked to about half way up the expansion tank, and it looks like that may be where it is cracked. Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

They can go at the seam there but sometimes it might indicate head gasket isuses. Compression gas gets into the cooling system, then your awesome V8 power blows it up until the tank explodes! My original black expansion tanks went on this seam about 8 years ago - the clear palstic replacement is still okay.

If your coolant tank is black, it was super ceded years ago by a new white one that has better seems. So if your's is black, replace it ten have a compression test and or a chemical block test done to see if you have blown your head gaskets.

Ok thanks for the help. Mine was a black expansion tank and I am about to get it replaced. I am going to have it pressure tested but I was wondering how to test if I have blown a head gasket?
