Default Radiator Hose Leaks on 98 Disco

I have a 98 Discovery that has recently begun leaking coolant. The leak was originally coming from a puncture in the large hose that comes directly out of the radiator. I temporary patched the leak using duct tape so I could drive the car home from my office (about 6 miles) and leave it until i could order a new hose. However, upon returning home, I found that a new leak was squirting coolant from another hose that about 4 inches long and is located jsut to the left of the big hose and comes out of the other side of the engine block.

I am thinking that my problem will be solved by ordering new hoses. These are the original hoses, so I am sure they are due for a change. But, I want to make sure that the punctures are not being cause by a problem with the pressure in the cooling system. My concern is that i will put on new hoses and still have problems with pressure.

Has anyone seen an instance where radiator hoses have become punctured by a build up of pressure in the cooling system?

You don't state mileage. Generally, hoses fail due to age not pressure. The cap will blow off before the hose.

It has 90K miles. As I mentioned, these are the original hoses, so I suspect that the issue is simply the hose as opposed to a pressure issue, but I want to be sure before I spend money on new hoses and risk destroying them due to an issue with pressure.

Thanks.

You also didn't mention geographical location.

High Temps and age are a certainty for hose leaks in a Disco.

I also have a 98 and have replaced one hose already. I'm getting ready to take the plunge and replace all the hoses[:@]

Just part of the mystique of a LR

if you are having pressure problems you might have a blown head gasket.
