Radio / FM Transmitter Issue
In March, I purchased an FM transmitter, which I use to plug into the cigarette lighter and the headphone jack of my iPhone 5c. For several weeks, I had no issues. Last week, the sound started to come out really low, similar to the sound when a speaker blows - distorted and lightly popping, inaudible. The radio alone plays music fine, but once I now plug in the transmitter, the same distorted sound comes through. The FM transmitter's manufacturer asked me to try the transmitter on another vehicle. My wife has a Ford Explorer, and when I plugged it in, the transmitter's output sounds as clean as it used to in mine - even cleaner.
I tried cleaning the FM transmitter and the lighter output. Same situation.
Any ideas?

I had one and hated it. I can hear the alternator hum.
I hard wired directly into the CD head under the passenger seat — never regretted it. I think there are picts on here somewhere. Gives me two ⅛ plugs, one on the passenger seat controls the other in the box. I just keep a bluetooth unit in there, works like a charm.
