Default Radio shorted out after big california rains

I am not sure how this is happening but twice in the last 4 years my radio gets fried after heavy rains/snowmelt. any ideas how this happens?

Thanks!

Matt

I must have food on the brain because I thought your title stated 'big california raisins'

Have you noticed any water coming in from the windshield area that may leak down into the dash? I have had issues with blockages of ice impeding drainage before around the headliner and top of the windshield. Knock on wood - it hasn't affected my radio but I'm half expecting water issues again this year.

I don't understand what fried exactly means, caught fire ? Or stopped working?
But mine also stopped working out ok nowhere, it was raining at night & radio working fine, parked the car & next morning when started the car radio was just dead & would not turn on,! Checked all fuses & nothing, pulled radio out & even back fuse on radio was good, connected wire's again nothing totally dead, then I opened top part of radio to see if I can figure out anything out of frustration, but obviously I couldn't ,,
Then I put it back together again & connected it back on & magically it started working,!!
I still don't have a clue what happened , but glad that it fixed itself,!

lol! Raisins! I'll need to investigate further but nothing visible around the dash/winshield...but will take out the radio tomorrow.

Boom2 - Fried = not working...fire would have been more fun tho. I'll tinker with it as you described...

Take out the radio.
Blow a hair dryer thru it.

But best to prepare to get another radio with a good unlock code and go that way.

You may have gotten your windshield replaced and you are getting rain in.
Or you have holes in your firewall.
