That's crazy.

Now heres where it gets scary.

I tried to stop to turn into the gas station - and the brakes locked up. I was forced to use the parking brake. Probably need a new parking brake. Thank the Lord there was no traffic. The brakes locked up in Neutral. I would have rear ended someone.

Seems pretty serious to me for a cars brakes to stop working because the engine failed on the road or it ran out of gas. Not sure I'm too keen I driving this anymore.

Why did the brakes fail?
So what's the rest of the story?
Did you get gas?
Did it start?

Why did you need to change the tank cover?

Just as a side note, your emergency brake isnt for immediate stopping. It just applies enough friction to slow you down. You should move your emergency brake every couple of months to keep it functioning.

When you pull on it, how many clicks can you hear?

You could also practice pulling on your handle so it works the next time if you ever have this issue with it not working.

Where do you live that has a 7 mile long hill?

After 7 miles of down hill coasting without power brakes, I'm sure your brakes were smoking hot and not functioning correctly. No one mentioned heat.

Wat? Do you think the power in power brakes decreases the heat over the same distance as without power brakes? Just think of all those overheated brakes before power brake boosters were invented..

A couple 12volt computer fans wired to each caliper would solve that issue.

Wired to your brake light circuit would be cool too...they would run only when you brake.

Great for dissipating heat when you're coasting in neutral and trying to stop on 7 mile hills...I wonder if there's any money in my idea...
