Default Random '03 Questions?

I've had '04s in the past but now I've got an '03. Noticed a couple of things that are different and wasn't sure if they are standard on an '03 and then changed for '04. My truck is essentially an '04 prototype and has the CDL standard.

1. Pulling ignition key doesn't require pushing in and turning to remove like on the '04. Normal?
2. Door locks don't auto lock when car begins to move in Drive. To lock all doors, I need to use the central locking button on the dash. Normal?
3. Wipers on my '04s had a wing thingamajig on one of the arms, my '03 doesn't. Normal?

Thanks

Do'nt have any personal '03 experience but...
1.No, that doesn't sound normal. I think all models had that safety feature.
2. The autolock feature can be disabled at the dealer or with the right scanner. What's up with that anyhow. Are they worried you will fall out or that zombies will get in?
3. ?? Haven't looked closely enough to notice that one.

Stock wiper arms did have a wing style air deflector on the drivers side only. At least my S model came that way. Stock arms also have a proprietary latch system for the blades... Many D2's have had the wiper arms replaced with D1 arms as they have the J hook style attachment which fit all the aftermarket blades. Check for the presence of the J hook mounting setup and you'll know which style arms you have.

1. Sounds like the ignition switch was replaced. Aftermarket units = don't have to push in to release the key.
2. Auto Lock, Superlock, and several other items can be tweaked via Nanocom, or a T4 programmer.
3. The fin on the passenger wiper is a stock thing to help apply pressure to the wiper blade. It could have been swapped out over the years.

Some 03's were without SAI which is nice IMHO, but beyond that 03-04 are identical minus CDL/SAI/Roof Rails between the two years.

That push in key thing I bet has broken many keys. I’ve had mechanics and others come back and ask me how do I get the keys out lol

Great. Thanks for all the info.

I'll see if I can get the locks reprogrammed as I'm so used to them locking upon driving.

In terms of the ignition, did LR ever offer a version without the push in function? My truck came out of LRSV so I'm wondering if it was done that way for a reason.

Wipers still look like D2 arms. Must just be missing the wing. I'll pick up a used one if I decide it's worth it.
