Default Realistic or Pipe Dream?

Hey Guys,

My DII has been sitting since March(I think) when I lost compression in cylinder 4. We purchased a home in June and we are rehabbing it, so have had no time to deal with the D2. I will have a garage for it now!

I am thinking about tearing it down over the winter, or when I can, and if it is just an issue with the heads maybe rebuild at some point. My biggest hesitation is that it is rusty, and beat up. I would rather find a good rust free donor for my Turner engine when I can get new heads on(or fix the issue).

Is it realistic to think that I can find a rust free donor D2 anymore? I don't care about the bumpers, just one that is in rust free shape fit to restore/fix up.

What do you guys think? What are you seeing out there?

They are out there but the $1000 or less are harder and harder to come by...I'd start looking now and be ready to store one until you're ready if you find the right one. May have to consider shipping as well.

this popped up near me recently so they are out there but this is the first cleanish looking one for this price in a good while I've seen.

Tons in florida and georgia. They run from 1500 - 5000. I see them all the time and they are usually in decent shape. If you like, I will PM some links and I can check them out if they are close by.

Really rust free is limited to Arizona and Southern California or someone who was meticulous about frame protection and they go for a premium.
I'm shocked at how much rust a see on a Discovery frame.
