Default Rear D/S interchangabilty

So, when I was installing my spiffy new fully serviceable front d/s on my '04, I noticed the rear has a roto-flex.

What are the chances the rear d/s and diff flange off my '97 D1 parts car would bolt up?

100% it will bolt up, but the 03 and 04 have a slightly shorter rear drive shaft than 02 and older. I've heard it will work though.

Cool, since the d/s is already off my parts car, if it fits I'll have a couple new u-joints thrown in and swap over. Do you happen to know if the flange will come right off the rear diff or will it require a puller?

You will have to buy a new flange kit to be able to use a D1 shaft, why waste the money, there is sure nothing wrong with the Roto-Flex.

I have no problem with using a rotoflex, I just figured when it does give up, if I had all the parts already to convert it to a two u-joint set up, why not? But, if the flange off my D1 won't work, cost wise would be equal.

No, the d1 flange should work. The diff's are the same from d1 to d2.
