Default Rear Door disconected and wont open

2000 Discovery II I bought it on Craigslist for a "good deal" however I have found several issues. The rear door will not open and the previos owner in some attempt to open it disconnected the cable from the inside latch. I have managed to peel back the panel inside. I have pulled up the lock and tried to keep it stuck unlocked by wedging it but without that it will drop. I lubricated the outide latch with the logo removed.... Nothing... I used an an angle tool to try and move whatever the cable was moving but havnt been able to move anything that will open the door. I am poised with a drill and a hole saw to destroy the actuator. Any suggestions prior to destruction?

Don't do it. Do you have a Rave manual or CD if so it will help you. This is not the time for Bubba tools. D*

Hmmm, I havn't yet.. I found a local 2000 Disco II with the rear door intact but they will only sell the entire door. An actuator is very expensive but I'm not seeing any way to get the door open.... And I might have to replace the actuator anyway....

Recommend you read this thread.

Have you already removed the interior panel and examined the actuator? You mention peeling it back, but it should be possible to remove it completely...?

After removing it and multiple attemps to open it with a mirror, light and small tools I finally destroyed the actuator to the point where I opened the door. I just recieved my new actuator and should be able to easily install it today... I attempted to post pictures of the door open but did not make it past the moderator...
