Default Rear door won't open

Any ideas?

The handle feels like it's already been pulled. I can get my fingers in there and push in back into the non-pulled position a bit and then pull it, but that does not seems to help. The inside one feels similar, except it springs back when you let go of it, unlike the outside one.

Any tips?

Thanks

MAx

My guess is road grime. WD40 or the like to flush it out and then work it until it moves right. Mine was just doing the same.

Welcome to the club. My rear hatch is acting up as well. Yours sounds like a lubrication issue. You may need to remove the door panel and take the entire mechanism out and clean it. I would try spraying wd40 through the slot where the door pull connects to the lock (just above the license plate on the right side. Also, pry the land rover badge off the door handle and shoot some in there too. After you clean it with wd40, spray white lithium grease after a few hours.

Take a moment to make sure that your door is hanging straight too. Basically, scan the edge of the door and make sure that there is a roughly uniform gap all the way around the door.

Alot to be said for a lack of lubrication.

I can't get the door open at all...

I don't really see what I can lube with it shut.

What am I missing?

Well, I got it open. I'm not proud of how.

Anybody got an extra internal locking mechanism?

Common issue. Next time use a little screw driver to pry off the land rover logo on the rear handle. It's actually a plug and when it pops off you will have access to the return spring mechanism. Spray the springs and pivot down with wd40 and work the handle. It will come loose and start working again. No need to take the door panel off.

If the actuator itself is bad, lubricating the return spring and linkage won't help. That is what's up with my rear door at the moment. I read a thread where someone replaced the 12v motor but it is not that simple on the rear actuator. BPUtah has genuine LR replacement actuator/lock mechanisms for $157. That's the lowest price I found for a new one.
