Default Rear Driveshaft

So i went and picked up a new flexible coupling to the rear prop shaft but when i looked under the rover i did not see it which to my understanding it is to be at the rear prop shaft input to the diff right? I read a few old threads trying to figure this out and to my understanding are there no u-joint(s) at the rear diff side of the propeller shaft, cause on front prop shaft and rear there are greaseable u-joints at both ends, i guess im getting my hopes up that maybe the previous owner did the upgrade. Thanks!

I have no Idea what Landrover based there decision to have a Rotoflex shaft or a U-joint shaft, but there are a few that had the U-joint shaft from the factory. You just happen to probobly have one.

They all came with rotoflexes, in your case, some one did a conversion and switched to a u-joint.

My 1995 has a Rotoflex. My dads (bought brand new in 1995) has U-joint. A friend just bought a 1997 untouched disco and it had a U-joint. Also I just recently retrieved some parts off a wreck at the local u-pull-it and it also had a U-joint. I doubt that they all came with rotoflex.

Hey thanks a bunch you guys after taking a peek under a few of my buddies discos and calling the dealership I confirmed that it had been converted to the U-joint so I now get to go get my money back on the roto flex. Is it also true that when the front prop shaft goes out it almost always takes the tranny with it from slamming up against the side of it ?
